The 'Racism Revisited: Anti-racism Leadership and Practice' Symposium is being held on the land of the Nyungar people. Delegates will be welcomed to the country by a traditional owner of the Beeliar Boodjar.

About the Symposium

Murdoch University in partnership with the Ethnic Communities Council of WA, Aboriginal Legal Service of Western Australia and the Federation of African Communities' Council will be hosting an anti-racism Symposium to be held at Murdoch University in Western Australia on 19 to 20 March 2010. The Symposium, Racism Revisited: Anti-racism Leadership and Practice, will have Plenary and Workshop components covering anti-racism leadership themes and practice.  We aim to engage participants in honest conversations about racism, analyse anti-racism leadership, discuss current practices and recommended practical solutions to combat racism.

Themes and Aims

The Symposium aims to revisit experiences and discuss anti-racism leadership and practice in order to develop practical solutions to advance the fight against racism in Australia. The Symposium includes plenary addresses from eminent person researchers, government representatives, Indigenous and ethnic community leaders, NGOs, and community groups.

Racism Revisited: Anti-racism Leadership and Practice will have sessions covering the following main themes and issues:
